Wednesday Reset Strength for the Workplace
Overload & healthy limits
When You Carry Everyone Else
Mid-Week Encouragement for the Weary Worker

Key Verse
“I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me.” — Numbers 11:14 (NIV)
Hook
They know you will say yes. Extra radio. Extra shift. Extra problem that “only you can handle.” Competence can become a trap.
Carrying people is ministry. Carrying everyone, all the time, with no help, is how good workers break.
Reflection
Moses said it out loud to God: I cannot carry all these people by myself. The burden is too heavy. That is Scripture, not weakness. God did not scold him for the sentence. He appointed help (Numbers 11:16–17, NIV).
Galatians 6 holds two truths in the same chapter: bear one another’s burdens, and each will have to bear his own load. Love shares weight. Love does not steal someone else’s job so they never grow, and it does not require you to be the whole company’s spine.
If you are the dump-on person, hear this from a chaplain: saying “I can’t take that one” can be holy. Not cruel. Not lazy. Honest. Jethro told Moses the same: you will wear yourself out, and the people with you (Exodus 18:17–18, NIV). A worn-out carrier helps nobody for long.
You are allowed to be faithful without being infinite. Even Moses needed more than Moses.
This Wednesday at Work
One small limit when you carry everyone else:
- Say one clean no — short: “I can take A. I cannot take B this week.” No apology speech.
- Hand one thing back — a task that belongs to someone else. Let them carry their own load.
- If you lead: stop rewarding the dump — spread the radios. Train a second person. Do not build a shop that only works if one saint never sleeps.
Ask God for the difference between a burden He wants shared and a load He never assigned to you.
Prayer for the Workplace
Lord, You saw Moses when the people were too heavy. See the ones who always cover. Give them help, a clean no, and a spine that can love without disappearing. Teach teams to share the weight. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Closing
If you have been everyone’s extra pair of hands, you are allowed to set the extra radio down. God can still run the day.
If overload, a crushing role, or a team that leans on one person needs confidential pastoral presence, I am here for that too.
From a chaplain’s heart to the middle of your week.
