Introduction

Kris Cruz Ministries (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you visit www.kriscruz.com or interact with our ministry online.

This site is operated by Chaplain Kris Cruz. The legal entity is Kris Cruz Ministries, a Texas nonprofit corporation. Public pages remain first-person chaplain ministry: prison and facility presence, families of the incarcerated, organizations that need clergy, and workplace grief and crisis care in North Texas. We do not sell your personal information.

Information We Collect

We collect information you voluntarily provide, depending on how you interact with the site:

Contact form

When you submit the contact form, we may receive your name, email address, audience type (employer, organization, facility, family, donor, etc.), organization or facility name, and your message. This information is used to respond to pastoral, partnership, or support requests.

Newsletter signups

When you subscribe to Ministry Updates in the Resources section, we collect the information you enter in the signup form (typically your email address and, if provided, your name). Signups are sent to our server endpoint and stored in MailerLite only. If double opt-in is enabled in MailerLite, you must confirm by email before receiving updates. Updates may include new handouts, Scripture teaching videos, and chaplaincy news.

Online giving (GiveButter)

All public giving for this ministry runs through GiveButter (also written Givebutter): the form on /donate, the campaign page, the QR code, and text-to-donate. Gifts are received by Kris Cruz Ministries, a Texas nonprofit corporation. We do not store credit card or bank details on kriscruz.com. GiveButter does not collect card numbers itself; payment information is handled by its PCI-compliant processor (Stripe). GiveButter’s own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply when you use those tools. GiveButter shares supporter information with the ministry (the fundraiser) so we can acknowledge gifts; we use that information as described in this policy.

Text-to-donate (GiveButter short code 53-555)

You can start a gift by texting KRISCRUZ to 53-555. That is GiveButter’s shared text-to-donate short code, not the chaplain’s personal number. GiveButter replies with a secure link to our campaign. You complete the gift on GiveButter (you choose the amount and pay by card or another method GiveButter offers). The gift is not billed to your phone account.

By texting a keyword to 53-555, GiveButter’s SMS terms say you consent to receive one or more auto-dialed texts at the number you used. GiveButter may obtain your cell phone number, your carrier’s name, and the date, time, and content of your messages, and may use that information to send the campaign link and provide the service you requested. Your mobile carrier also handles delivery of those texts. Message and data rates may apply.

To stop GiveButter texts, reply STOP to 53-555. For help, reply HELP to 53-555. Texting KRISCRUZ or completing a GiveButter gift does not add you to Ministry Updates (MailerLite) unless you separately subscribe on this site.

Direct communication

If you call or text 214-735-9356, email or iMessage us at chaplain@kriscruz.com, we receive whatever information you include. Phone and text conversations happen through your carrier and our devices—not as form fields stored on this website. Email and iMessage are handled through those providers’ systems.

Pastoral care and confidentiality

Website forms, newsletter lists, and donation records are ministry operations data used to respond, serve, and stay in touch when you ask. That is different from confidential pastoral care offered in person, by phone, or in other ministry settings. We do not use website tools to report private pastoral conversations to an employer, facility, or family unless you ask us to, or the law requires it. Spiritual care on this site is not licensed clinical counseling or therapy.

External links

Our site links to external services and ministries, including Scripture Unlocked Today on YouTube, Kairos Prison Ministry, Christian Chaplains & Coaching, and online giving through GiveButter. When you leave kriscruz.com by clicking one of these links, the destination site’s own privacy policy applies. We do not receive your YouTube account information or viewing history from those links.

Automatic technical information

Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URL.

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights on kriscruz.com to understand how visitors use the site and how pages perform. These tools collect aggregated, privacy-friendly metrics such as page views, referring pages, device type, and Core Web Vitals (for example, load speed and layout stability). They are designed for site improvement—not for advertising, cross-site tracking, or building marketing profiles. We do not use Google Analytics or similar advertising analytics tools on this site.

Technical and agent access

This site may expose limited technical endpoints so automated tools (for example, AI agents) can register with a verified email and receive short-lived credentials to call certain APIs. Registration and token data used for that access may be stored on our infrastructure so we can issue and revoke credentials securely. These flows are not used for marketing lists. Operational jobs (such as scheduled publishing) use separate infrastructure credentials and are not the same as public newsletter or contact data.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies in connection with third-party services used on the site, including Formspree (contact forms only), MailerLite (newsletter list), GiveButter widgets on the giving page, and X (Twitter) embed scripts on selected blog posts that include a public clip. We do not load third-party newsletter embed scripts on page load. GiveButter may set its own cookies when you use the on-page form or open a campaign link from a text.

Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights may use cookies, local storage, or similar browser technologies to measure visits and performance. According to Vercel, these services do not use advertising trackers or cross-site profiling on our site. We do not use Google Analytics or advertising trackers on kriscruz.com.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect how some features work.

Data Retention

We keep contact and ministry-related correspondence as long as needed to respond to your request and maintain appropriate records. Newsletter subscriber data is retained in MailerLite until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Donation and text-to-donate records are retained by GiveButter according to their policies. Technical credentials for agent or API access are kept only as long as needed to secure those features.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information submitted through this site. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any Ministry Updates email, or by contacting us at chaplain@kriscruz.com.

GiveButter texts (including replies after you text KRISCRUZ to 53-555): reply STOP to 53-555 to opt out, or HELP for help. That SMS opt-out is handled by GiveButter and does not unsubscribe you from Ministry Updates email, and unsubscribing from email does not stop GiveButter texts.

To make a privacy request, email chaplain@kriscruz.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. For donor-record requests that live in GiveButter, we may need to work with GiveButter to fulfill them.

Children’s Privacy

This website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be noted on the homepage or in a ministry update.
